Hi everyone, I want to overclock my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU to maybe 3.0 GHz. Right now it is at 2.4 GHz. My motherboard is the one that comes with the Dell Precision 390 desktop. I don't think I have a cooler in there but I can check if I have to. Could you guys tell me how to overclock my cpu?

I also have 3.25 GB of ram and I have a GeForce GTX 650 video card if that helps at all.

Honestly, you are not going to be able to OC a Dell OEM motherboard, especially a Dell Precision 390 based rig. The controls to do so are not available to users. That is a workstation class motherboard and they are not designed for OCing.

Sorry.

This is an old thread... But i have a core 2 duo e6600, but also inside a precision 390... is it possible i can upgrade the cpu instead of overclocking it? im sure if i COULD overclock i could get a stable 3.2 with whats in there, the cooler is real decent.

Start a new thread, please. Thanks.
