Okay, so I bought a GTX 970 and a PSU thats well enough to run my computer. I plugged evertyhing in correctly (99% sure) I wore ESD gloves and made sure I wouldnt shock anything. when I try to turn it on it does nothing but an orange light turns on inside. I have a Dell XPS 8700 btw
 
The minimum PSU wattage is 500 and the amps per rail is most likely is garbage on the dell but you need 30amps
Sorry, man but you may have to upgrade your PSU also. Even if you do have a nice PSU with above recommendations it still won't work because Nvidia knows there cards don't work with Dell, they just don't mention it, so it can also be your motherboard which means you have 2 giant factors that may be causing the GTX 970 to do absolutely nothing
 


My previous card was an Nvidia and it worked fine
