Hello,
I have a Compaq Presario S4100nx that I have had for quite a while now. I know that it has a 2.5 ghz celeron cpu. I don't know what the motherboard is. It has 256mbs of ram. An 80 GB HDD.

What I want to know is......what is the motherboard. What size is the case (micro atx, atx, etc) ? What components can I put in it it make it a great machine? My budget is $500-600 for a CPU, motherboard, 8gb ram, possibly a 120ish GB ssd, 1tb hdd, and a psu (700-1000w). My hdd slots are 3.5 in each.

I already have two CD Rom drives and a floppy disc drive (which I don't need).

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Looks good overall, not that sure on the PSU however, somewhere in tom's forum there's a list of tiered PSUs, you might wanna give a look at that before buying that raidmax.
You could download CPU-Z or AIDA64 to find out what mobo you have, then look in the internet it's full specifications to see what you can upgrade in it. Also consider the possibility of buying a new pc altogether (you could reuse the case, optical drives and hdd) since due to the celeron CPU and RAM most likely it's a very old architecture.

i'd like to RaDiKaL_ but its getting costly. I mean i was planning on using the case drives and such but i dont know if the case is micro, mini, or just ATX.

I cant power on the pc. The motherboard's trash..... I can boot the drives when i only have the power supply cables are pluggged in. when i connect the motherboard wires to the drives. they shut off!
