Question from lilejohnson1 : "BIOS VERSION NOT CHANGING please help"
Recently I've decided to upgrade my PC. I currently have a Lenovo Y700-34ish Model # is 90dg0006us
I want to upgrade pretty much everything (CPU, GPU, PSU, RAM). I already have all the parts installed except for the CPU. My new CPU is a I7 7700 (non k). But I can't, the BIOS is currently dated at Nov 2017 the latest is Dec 2017 for this PC. When ever I try and update it the version will not change, I've tried multiple times nothing. I eventually tried installing it without updating it. It only provides display through the integrated graphics. It won't work with the GPU. I got into windows once but it was very "laggy" and couldn't do anything. Now I just get a screen saying "Error 0167 No processor microcode update found". I have tried every possible way I can think of to fix it, CMOS cleared, reset ram, etc.
Is it my mobo preventing this? If so WILL I need to upgrade? I don't want to upgrade my mobo unless necessary.
PC specs (BEFORE upgrades)
Intel I5 6400 2.7Ghz, GTX 960, 8gb ddr4 ram, Mobo is weird not popular at all it's a Lenovo Skybay w/ Intel Skylake H170 chipset.
Sorry for any grammar or spelling errors (doing this on my phone).
