Hello. I would like to ask for help in choosing a video card, now I have a 2080 Ti, but I have to return it. Budget $1000+ -
The PC will mainly be used for gaming, of course I would like to have a margin of 3+ years for gaming in 2K on Ultra
I'm thinking about 4070 Ti, looked at tests, reviews - it seems like a good option (but I don't know much myself) so I want to ask your advice.

Specs:

Core i7-10700KF 3.8GHz
Cooler Noctua NH-D15
BE QUIET! Straight Power 11 750W 80+ Gold
Mainboard MSI Z490-A PRO
SSD M.2 2280 500GB Samsung
SSD SAMSUNG 860 EVO 1TB 2.5" SATA
HYPERX Predator DDR4 3333MHz 32GB Kit 2x16GB
Case BE QUIET! Pure Base 500DX

Monitor MSI Optix G27CQ4 165Hz

Thanks in advance for your replies.

4070ti will do good at 2k gaming and my advice go with your heart because when you want something get it or play on your mind all day!

MSI and ASUS are good brands to pick from
Thank you very much for the answer.
For example, such models as?
ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 4070 TI GAMING 12G and MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GAMING X TRIO 12GB?

With such a budget and selling your CPU and motherboard, you could get better CPU to maximize potential of that 4070Ti.
Specificaly 5800X3D OR 12700KF.
12700kf is significantly cheaper(70$ discount currently) and should perform just as well as 12700K wich is about as equally good as a 5800X3D.
But then your overal Wattage might approach or exceed 600W and I am unsure 750W PSU is best idea for that.
It would be risky with 3080,but perhaps 4070Ti has more contained power spikes.

Nothing wrong with your processor and the 4070ti is a good choice. I like MSI cards.

if i were in your shoes, with this budget first shift your cpu to i9-10900kf then buy a 3080ti (not necessarily brand-new.... buy a good used one for saving money)
our cpu is common but i have an eye for i9-10900f too in coming months because of 5.2 ghz boost( 4.9 in practise)
in this way z490 is remained

Advice not to buy used gpu just to save money because you could end up with one that will break in couple months time or been mined or not look after or one that other warranty

Or he can go to LGA1700 platform and have vastly superior upgrade path.
You are just being sentimental at your and potentially his expense if he listens to you.

When giving such money for a GPU, in my opinion it is beyond...unwise to go used.
4070Ti is equal or better than 3080Ti with better feature set than 3080Ti and Ampere cards tend to suffer from massive transient power spikes , making anything below 1000W risky for 3080Ti(partly depending on 3080Ti model) and below 850W playing with fire.

Why? There's absolutely zero reason an i9 is warranted in this case. Gaming really doesn't need that much more beyond an i7 or a 7800X3D. Seriously, most games these days can run off a 5600X at the miniumum, even high end titles like Diablo IV and Cyberpunk 2077. You're better off spending that money on a new GPU and a new PSU.

a question? why do we say dont buy used gpu? hah?
bc its life cycle is reduced for being mined or using ,...
now assume that a new gpu have been released recently and there has been no long time available for being mined or used exessively.
so what,s wrong with buying a used and good gpu.
me gpu (rx6700 xt) was released march 2021 so it cant get destroyed before reaching at my hands.
newer gpu have better situation

4070ti so ambitious. we dont need that high. untill some years later.
we act as we need not more

what psu is needed? more than 3080?
is it necessary untill 3years later?

The 3080s require a strong and steady source of power. You could get away with an 850W, I run mine on one, but it would have to be a strong high quality unit, like a Corsair HXi / RMx, MSI 1000p, EVGA P2 Platinum, or Seasonic Prime Ultra, something in that range. If you're going to run a high end GPU like that, you can't skimp on the PSU.

Because you don't know where it's been. So many companies are notorious for reselling hardware without it going through quality control inspection (much like certified pre-owned vehicles). So you don't necessarily know what you're getting. You don't want to spend your hard earned money on a used GPU only to wind up with a bricked, out of warranty lemon. And they usually can't be replaced, either.

What's wrong with new 4070Ti vs used 3080Ti?
4070Ti comes with DLSS3 which makes RT Overdrive great experience for most players.

Used 3080Ti wouldn't be hugely cheaper than new 4070Ti as cheapest 4070Tis are slightly below or slightly above 800$.
Granted, sometimes one needs to be careful about VRM some card has , but lately even some of the cheapest models in some series have at least OK cooling and in decent case with several fans, things will be alright and not every expensive model has awesome cooling.

10700K is great.
12700K is better.
Infact 12600KF is likely also better for 155$(NewEgg promotion)
And with quality motherboard has HUGE upgrade path
Well yes if you just wish to spend more money the 12700kf is better but not necessary the 10700KF will still run everything just fine. I see no reason to spend more money than is needed especially when it's not my money.

No intel board has a HUGE upgrade path the sockets just don't support enough generations.

You missed understood something I think.
I did mention that he sells old stuff.
Getting more budget that way.
So in essence he isn't really spending much more if at all.
He said his budget 1000+ $ and yet he targets 4070Ti and there is no need to spend so much on 4070Ti .

MSI and ASUS are good brands to pick from
You should never ever choose GPUs based on what brands they are from.
Do not fall victim of their marketing.
The purpose of marketing longterm speaking is indoctrination of customers.
Zotac can be just as good if not better and usually at much lower price.
MSI and Asus can be overpriced because they are MSI and Asus.
You are paying premium for brand recognition in most cases.

The key are reviews when possible.

I don't know how many times I have to say this, but it s a terrible idea to buy used. So many stores and resellers sell old hardware without it going through inspection. You don't know what you are getting.

Uh what? Zotac is a brand. I have their 4070TI card in my new system, it's great.

?
What are you talking about dude?
Are you sure you haven't responded to wrong post?
Where oh where have I recommended that he buys used.
I just meant there is no need to spend 1000$ for 4070Ti.
1000$ is approaching 4080 territory.
There are 4080 Zotacs for 1099$.
He gets 4070Ti for 749-849 and by selling his CPU,MOBO and PSU he gets 12700K or something along those lines, very capable B660 board and high quality 850 - 1000W PSU.

Yes Zotac is a brand.
But objectively less recognised than MSI and ASUS.
Thus getting those instead is often paying for brand recognition.

I have Zotac 3060Ti Twin Edge OC

There are several CPUs stronger than 12700KF on LGA1700 because 13000 series is compatible with same boards as 12000 series.
On his current path just 2 both are weaker than 12700KF.

I kind of see what you're getting at, but for the most part I wouldn't expect to get much from the previously owned equipment. I have a Zotac 4070Ti and it's a great GPU. I paid $800 for mine not including taxes.

It's a totally different thing if you are selling PC components. Used PC components are generally worth about 1/2 of what you paid for them when you go to sell them used. Even less if you don't have the original boxes for them. You definitely won't get as much as you would think for used PC hardware.

MSI, Asus, and Gigabyte are the big three brands. And yes, you probably will pay a premium for them at times. For the most part, the shortage that has plagued PC building for the last 4 years is pretty much over. Most cards are back to MSRP levels now. Zotac is a good alternative for sure. Also AMD and NVIDIA sell their own branded cards through their websites, usually at MSRP or even less on occasion.
