Hello Everyone!

This Dell slimline computer I have has a pretty weak CPU. I decided to overclock it with ClockGen, since I've seen people's screenies of their O/Ced Dell C521's. Right now I have the Sempron 1.8Ghz Manila 3400+ AM2 CPU. I overclocked it to 2.3Ghz using clockgen, its showing that the FSB is 255MHz, the CPU at 2300.8MHz, and the RAM at 460MHz. Is it bad to run the RAM at such frequencies? The RAM is PC-6400 800MHz DDR2 1GB made by Crucial. Please help? Thanks all!

PS. I've tested it with OCCT and Prime95. Its currently running Prime95 with no problems, I have already ran OCCT in normal (1hr) and it shows no errors.

The ram should be fine at that speed if no errors are encountered. I would be much more concerned with temperatures at this point. I don't know about that model, but usually slimline or mini tower pc's are cramped and have poor airflow.

If you really want to be sure its not dangerous, you need to track your temps. These sound like pretty old computer parts, have you checked to make sure they are free of dust and "breathing" well?

A really easy and inexpensive upgrade that will boost performance would be another gig of ram. I highly recommend.

The temperatures are 26C idle. And running Prime95 the whole night averaged a 32C. I just read that ClockGen wasn't that good for OEM dells, I decided to lower it to 2.2GHz, the RAM is sitting at 441MHz now.

Is software overclocking bad? Will it damage the Dell motherboard?
