Please HELP :(

Hello i need some serious help.

my laptop have had a serious malware, so i had to make a clean install for windows 10.

what i did was i used my 500gb external hdd to make an iso file, and guess what. Windows 10 made a partition on my hdd so i can only see the windows 10 iso. i am so frustraded, sad and really angry, cause all my files and backup is on that hdd, including pictures.

the windows support told me, that there is nothing you can do, other than formatting my hdd. now its a 40gb windows 10 usb install tool until i format my hdd 🙁

PLEASE HELP, IS there any way to recover my files. 🙁 🙁 🙁🙁

As you've written over the partition to create the Windows 10 install, I doubt that any files/parition tables would be left on the drive.

What software did you use to create the USB install from the ISO?

dont format it

try some of the free data recovery tools

if you format it you will just have 1 large empty partition your files will still be gone

Must had miss the warning about it gonna remove everything from the for the media iso.

and yes as said normally you get a warning before it formats it to do the iso bit

yes try the free recovery software i linked earlier

main thing is not to write more stuff on there or it will be harder to try to recover

and i know its a bit late to say--but important data should never ever only be in one place

but theres a good chance of recovery of at least some of it
