Hello I dont know much about networking and I am moving into a new home but the internet providers are very expensive here. I wanted to a modem and a router but it seems too good to be true is that really all I need to buy.

Well - in most cases, the subscription from the provider is far more costly compared to the cost of just buying a router/modem.

Look at the recommended list from your ISP.
Buy one of those.
