Approximate Purchase Date: within about a week

Budget Range: preferably under US$1500, including shipping and sales tax, but not counting mail-in rebates (I don't use them).

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming (Minecraft (single-player), Skyrim, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, Spore, Torchlight 2, Fallout New Vegas, etc.), possibly watching anime or exercise dvds, other common tasks like web browsing, personal email, and finances.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: various (see PCPartPicker list above); planning to keep mobo, cpu, ram, psu, and kb/mouse, but willing to consider upgrades for just about anything else.

Do you need to buy OS: Technically I don't need to buy a new OS, but I plan to get a newer version of Windows anyway.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon Smile Prime, NewEgg, TigerDirect; I'm willing to consider others, though. (I'm avoiding NCIX US, since it won't even give me an estimate of shipping costs before checkout)

Location: Fremont, California, USA

Parts Preferences:
1. I want to avoid big/bright LEDs, so I can leave the computer running overnight without worrying about it preventing me from getting to sleep. A few small status LEDs are okay though.
2. In a similar vein, I want it to stay fairly quiet: it doesn't have to be completely silent, but I think under 35 dBA at a distance of 0.5 meters (which is about 29 dbA at 1 m) would be good enough.
3. For the wireless adapter, I want a separately positionable antenna, not limited to directly adjacent to the case. If there are any wireless adapters that ship with Windows 10 drivers (or are included in the Windows 10 installer - I haven't been successful at determining whether it includes any), that might be an advantage.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: Planning to get 2560x1440.

Additional Comments:
1. The cpu cooler and case are ones I've had for a while, but I entered prices of 0 for them so they won't be mistakenly counted toward my budget for the upgrade.
2. As noted above, I don't plan to overclock, but I figured since I have the Hyper 212 EVO already, I might as well use it.
3. One reason that I chose the GTX 1070 is that it has a gl_max_texture_size of 32768 (reference link), unlike most other cards that are limited to 16384 (including the RX 480), which I figure will allow me to use more 512x or 256x textures for Minecraft (including mods). I was originally planning to use this as justification for getting a gtx 1070 despite some considering it overkill for playing at 1080p60, but then I saw how low prices had gotten for 1440p monitors (without having to get something like a Qnix or Yamakasi off eBay).
4. I will be mounting the monitor arm via clamp to the back of this table that I already have, which should have little trouble supporting it.
5. I'm counting it as part of the upgrade budget, but the TV is for the sake of being able to hook up my older game consoles like PlayStation 2 and GameCube (and possibly my PS3 super slim as well, since the Dell P2416D apparently doesn't have a headphone jack for the audio from hdmi).
6. I had a BitFenix 200mm fan installed in the top of my HAF XB EVO, which I plan to remove, and a Cooler Master JetFlo 120mm installed at the rear, which I plan to replace with the 120mm fan listed in the upgrade above. The 140mm fans, in case it wasn't obvious, will go in place of the default front fans.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:
Several reasons
1. I want to get more HD textures in Minecraft
2. I want to switch to using a single ssd, so that I don't have to deal with figuring out which software to install to which drive (so no mechanical hdd, at least for a while)
3. I want to upgrade to Windows 10, so that I'll have a few years to try to get familiar with it before the extended support ends for Windows 7, which will pretty much force my parents to switch to a newer OS.
4. It has been a while since I've made a major upgrade to my system.

Are these good choices, and is there anything worth adding to the upgrade?

I really like the upgrade. GPU upgrade will help with the new monitor. I never used that thermaltake cooler, but going to EVO is a really good upgrade, also for future overclocking, but you don't want it (you mentioned).

In general, i see good this upgrade.

I don't think the Thermaltake cooler I'm using now is anything special. I don't find a professional review of it, but I'm guessing the performance is on par with the stock cooler, the big draw for me was that it has more secure mounting than plastic push pins.
