16gb ram, GTX 1080 gpu, Ryzen 5 cpu, Windows 10. This is a pc I've built a year ago.

So when using programs like Adobe Photoshop, my computer may end up freezing/crashing and I'll have to manually power it off. This shouldn't be happening b/c I also use my lesser laptop (8gb ram) which does the same thing w/o freezing/crashing.

The main things taking up memory are Google Chrome tabs (could have ten open) and then the Adobe program. Normally 4gb of ram are taken up b/c Windows 10.

Also, another possible indication of it being a memory problem: I've been newly modding Skyrim which crashes to desktop b/c of mods sometimes. However, there are instances where it will not crash specifically b/c I've closed my Chrome tabs. Also it is less likely to crash after restarting my computer.

I'd appreciate any help, it's a pain in the butt. :)

CPU should be good, during memtest, it was at 51 or 57C, which I think is fine? But I'll see.

I'll do that. Thank you for helping me out. I appreciate it.
It may actually be better and it's just a setting on Photoshop eating up RAM. Hard to know right now.

Just wondering, why would increasing RAM performance fix the issues?

Ryzen motherboards have had a lot of issues with ram. Most of the problems were addressed through bios updates improving memory compatibility and stability.

DDR4 memory stock speeds (2400/2666) can operate at 1.2v and faster (2666+) at 1.35v and sometimes needing 1.4v.

Setting ProcODT under memory timings in bios from auto to 40ohms can also help. Lots of people doing this with Ryzen. Be worth trying.

Ok I'll be sure to check all those things out. Thank you again for all the tips.
