Plug In DP monitor says no cable connected

Ive just got a new benq xl2430t monitor and it says their is no cable connected when I plug in the displayport cables, it only works when I plug in the dual link cables, why is that?
The computer has recognised it as a benq monitor but I need the display port cables to get 144hz right? and I cant plug them both in

Silly question but does the monitor have input switching and let you select the correct input and you do that?

I can set 144hz on Windows options though, does that mean I'm running at 144hz?

Your GTX970 has Dual Link DVI-I, HDMI 2.0, 3x DisplayPort 1.2

Try different gtx DP ports

try the monitor on another computer that has a display port on it to see if your monitor works thru that port.

You said you have a gtx970. GTX970's have 3 DPs. Try the others. What make and model do you have?

Not sure whether you got a response to this but I had a similar problem this morning. As the monitor is loading click on the menu option and select g-sync. Sounds simple, but it had me scratching my head for a while.

Here is what fixed my monitor problem. I had tried so many things
I found I had inadvertently switched from HDMI.. on my Ben Q there is a button next to the power button..........marked enter..............several attempts as the computer was loading I changed the setting to HDMI.........and here I am / Ron
