Plug in USB Wifi Adapter and nothing happens

So I just built a new PC today with windows 10 on it. It has a fresh SSD and HDD. I was using a Wavlink USB WiFi adapter on my old build and am trying to use it on the new one.

I have installed the drivers from Wavlinks site but when I plug in the adapter to the USB nothing happens. All USB ports are working as I’ve tested them with several other devices. I’ve gone through device manager and the computer doesn’t even know that the adapter is plugged in. It worked fine yesterday in my old build. Typically the computer plays a tone when a device is plugged in, that doesn’t happen either.

I’ve updated and restarted my computer as well. I’ve also uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled with a reboot in between. Any suggestions would be great as I’ve searched and searched and can’t seem to find anyone else who’s had this issue. The only other programs installed aside from stock windows stuff is Chrome and Winrar.

do you still have the old build? If so, plug it into that and see if it works. If it doesn't then a pin on the USB connection came loose inside the adapter.

Pin coming loose happened to me a couple of times on different adapters in the past.

Requires you to solder it back on.

I took it all apart as I reused some newer parts from the old build. I do have a laptop I could try it on. I’ll report back.
