Plugged in new Logitech G430, now my computer doesn't make a sound.

I had used a Logitech G35 for about 2 years now and was quite happy with it. Unfortunately, it broke and it needed a replacement. I chose the G430 since it seemed to be the same headset without some doodads on it and that was fine by me.

I installed the logitech gaming software and then plugged in the headset via the USB adapter. The software and the system recognized the headset correctly but no sound came. The volume in the software itself is always set at zero. I move it to 100 but no sound is heard and when I return to the volume in the logitech software, it is back at zero.

There is an X over my little speaker icon in the system tray so I click it and windows launches into a diagnostic that tells me that the sound device is not enabled.

I open up the audio devices window from the control panel but find that all devices ARE enabled.

To my horror, somehow I can't select the "configure" option for any of the audio devices! I can't enable OR disable any of them. I click on the buttons but nothing happens. I can open the properties window but when I go to the "levels" tab (to raise the volume) the tab is blank!

I heard logitech headphones don't work well with realtek drivers so like an idiot I uninstalled them and now my mobo can't get any sound to my 3.5mm output speakers. I reinstalled the realtek drivers but nothings come back online.

Also, browsers running youtube vids freak out and crash when they can't output any sound for some reason.

Help.

What is your default sound device showing up as? Is everything installed properly if you check Device Manager? Is this account an administrator on the computer you are working with?

If I plug in the headset, it becomes the default device. If I unplug them the default device is the main speaker set. I can't change between them in the device manager though.

Yes, I am the admin account.

Is there a sound controller on the headset? Maybe a mute button that was pushed?

Try Logitech support, see if they have anything to offer.

If you have no sound even without the headset, uninstall the logitech drivers and the realtek drivers, install the new sound divers from the PC vendor.
