Hi there. I have a laptop Asus K501UX and was having problems with the cable of my AC adapter. I bought a replacement and changed the cable (kept the same AC adapter). Apparently I did it wrong the first time and hooked the cables in the wrong place (+ on - and viceversa) and plugged it in 🙂no: yup). When i figured the problem I reversed the cables and when I plugged it in the computer showed it was charging but it really wasn't. I used the computer until the battery dropped to 0%.

Now I got a new charger but same thing happenens. When I plug it in it says that its charging but when I try to turn it on it would try and turn back off (probably because the battery is at 0%).

My question is. What did I do? Did I mess up the battery??? I don't think that's the case because the PC won't start even when it's plugged in.

It seems like I messed up with something that sends the current to the pc? Any ideas? Battery is inside and it's not removable (at least not by user)

Thanks in advance

You might have fried a resistor, fuse or something else in the battery pack.
If you don't feel comfortable dismantling the laptop you may have to take it to a shop to be repaired, hopefully it's just something inside the battery pack that's effected and is a fairly easy/quick fix.

Thanks for the the reply. I actually opened the laptop and took the battery out. So I could get another one and replace if I knew that's the problem. But I don't know if there is an easy way to diagnose it. I'll call the ASUS support tomorrow and see what they can do about it.
