PM740 vs PM 760

I am looking at a laptop with a PM740 1.75 GHz vs a PM760 2.0 GHz. The difference in price is about $100. I'm trying to get a feel for the real performance difference.

Is it relatively linear as in 1/7th faster for $100, or is there more to the equation?

It's not linear. The other components have a lot to do with performance. A lot depends on usage. If you are looking at something with a lot of horsepower, a DTR is probably a better idea.
