PN5-E SLI support for PCI-E 2.0?

Hi - my first thread here so please excuse me if this should be in the video card section.

I've been using an ASUS PN5-E SLI for about 6 months now, with few problems (well, periodic blue screens overnight, but what's that between friends?)

However, I've just got an EVGA 8800GT Superclocked card, which I'm having some problems with. I put it in the slot, plug in the power cable, turn the machine on... nothing on the screen. I can hear it booting and going into Windows, but there's nothing on the screen. The fan on the card is spinning up, so I know it's connected OK.

I RMA'd the card and got another one which did exactly the same thing. The computer works just fine with my old card (PNY GeForce 7600 GS).

EVGA tech support suggested there might be some problems with PCI-E 2.0 support on the motherboard - rather than two cards with broken outputs. Does this sound feasible?

I have either the latest release or the latest beta BIOS - I can't remember. I'll try the other one (whichever it is) when I get home tonight. Latest beta BIOS was released at the beginning of November.

My PSU has 22A on each of the 12V rails. I have plugged in the PCI-E connector. I tried both of them (coming from my power supply) in case there was a problem with one - same thing with both. I've tried using both of the DVI ports on the card in case one was faulty - same thing with both.

Thanks for being so speedy. :)

unsure about this, but could you flash to the 8800GT drivers with your 7600 in, turn it off (hard), plug in your 8800GT? Of course this might prevent your 7600 from working and 8800GT from working as well if it doesnt work.
