I was finally getting around to over clocking my i7-3770k and found when I had it @4.4ghz core 1 reached 93c. That's seems awfully high to me given that I have a closed loop water block installed. I took everything back to stock and just loaded the cpu to 100% utilization with Prime and temps still seem a bit high coming in at 75c. From some of the forums I have seen the stock cooler run at temps like this. I did remove the cooler and reapply as5 and have the same results. The H80 is set up in a push pull configuration with air flow blowing out. The computer is in the basement and ambient room temperature is 67f (19c). It would appear that I have a bad unit.
System:
cpu -i7-3770k
mobo - Asus Maximus V gene
cooler - Corsair H80
case - Cooler master HAF - X
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
