Poor graphic performance (choppy video/slow rendering)

Recently bought a pc off some guy who built it up.

There aren't any software/hardware issues except when it comes to video playback and general advanced graphic performance.

Online stream is choppy (frame by frame), and even basic graphic effects seem sluggish to load. And yes this is even at 240-360p playback.

The graphics card is a 64mb Nvidia Geforce2 MX 200 created by Milky Star.

I am running Windows 7 on a 3.0 GHZ pentium 4 with 2GB Ram.
Motherboard is an ASRock P4VM800.

I am aware that this video card is extremely outdated, but shouldn't it atleast be able to handle video streaming?

I downloaded the drivers from Nvidia's site after finding a driver pack that supported the card, but maybe I should find the Milky Star manufacturer driver instead?

Oh man.. The 9800 GTX is "outdated" - that MX200 is damn ancient. It's about equivalent to a hamster running on a wheel. I'm shocked/impressed that the components actually start up and run. But there are 3 primary reasons why you're experiencing these problems. 1. The components are so aged that the silicon on the chips are all but eroded and weathered away. 2. The drivers from the time that those components were new are so simplistic and 'light' compared to the sophisticated ''heavy'' programming used today. 3. Even if those components were brand spanking new, Windows 7 idles at around 1.5 - 1.8 GB of RAM at least for me. So the OS alone is technically bottle necking your system.

I hate to tell you bud, but that computer really wasn't worth buying at all. 🙁 I hope you didn't pay a lot for it.

So would downgrading the OS help?

I am aware of it's limitations and to be honest the graphics card was my add-on a buddy gave to me to try out.

The motherboard has it's own integrated graphics but they were displaying choppy video also, hence why I added the video card. Or maybe reverting to the integrated graphics again is the solution? If I can find out why playback was bad.

Your system is very poor.
Pentium 4s are 2001 technology and just wont run modern OSes well.
That Geforce is a collectors piece by now
2 GB is on the low side.

Any idiot with half a brain can tell me that. I don't need your 2 cents on something completely obvious.

If you want to be useful try helping. Not being captain obvious.

If you had payed any attention I am seeking a reason why my computer isn't doing something it should be able to. Regardless of how "old" the parts are they should still be capable.

If you don't want to replace any hardware, install Windows XP and see if it changes anything. That's probably the only thing you can do.

@ Switch2verse: Which video driver is the system using?
Have you disabled the onboard Unichrome graphics?
Are the motherboard/chipset drivers installed?
Don't expect too much out of this system: It's got less computing power than a half decent mobile phone and the graphics card will be no help streaming, all the decode work is done by the CPU.
