hello,

psu: Cooler Master - 80 plus standard 230V - mwe white 550

while troubleshooting some issues with the RAM, i have tried drain residual electricity by pressing and holding in the power button for about 20 seconds, then when i pressed the on switch of the PSU i heard a pop which i believe came from the PSU (i tried to smell all over the case and psu especially, but didn't smell any abnormality), i started the computer and it's working fine, i even did multiple restarts later and it's not showing me any other signs of problems

should i be concerned that something happened and it might cause damage to other componenets? do you think i should urgently get it checked and potentially replace the psu?

thank you!!

The 'pop' sound you heard could indicate a small electrical discharge or a brief surge in the PSU. I'd not worry about it. By the way, what's the model of the PSU?

well i got it 2 years ago brand new. i just shut it off for a few minutes and started it again, i'm still not getting a new sign of trouble. do you think in a worst case scenario i might get a different component damaged?

i'm convinced of your answer given how it's working without a glaring issue, i'm just getting paranoid that some component in the psu may have blown up, and it could lead to damage another component like the hdd or ssd or gpu
