port forwarded 25565 but still says closed

using yougetsignal.com and the stupid site is telling me that 25565 is closed. yes im using external ip yes i reset router yes i forwarded on tcp and udp. it said earlier that it was open but i still couldnt start my minecraft server. acouple weeks ago when it said it was open it worked. it also went back to closed. ive been trying this for about 4 hours today so dont ask a basic question cause ive probably tried it already. also im using a belkin router

You have it open on the Router but do you also have it open on the PC it self? Have to open it up in both places.

What he means is that you need to enable it in the Windows firewall. Add a new inbound rule, browse to the mincraft executable, select the port and set it to allow access.

i did it the same way i did it acouple weeks ago and it worked. both on tcp and udp but to be honest man i think i just need a new router. because this one is messedup. for example. i cant get on router login whether i type it into address bar or type my ip in. i have to fac reset it and let it take me to the setup

ok to all. I DID THIS LAST WEEK. i port forwarded last week and it worked. now i fac reset router and try it again and no luck. i currently have no working router right now idk why. it keeps saying that its waiting for the modem to turn on when it already is on. im browsing through the modem right now and it wasnt working but i called and they fixed it. router still not working. im just gnna go get the router brand that is the best. netgear

You never said what brand it was before lol it might just need a firmware upgrade to fix the issue.

no need for firmware update already updated. the reason the router login wasnt working was actually cause chrome but i fixed that. i dont even wanna mess with port forwarding anymore but i am gnna set my ip to dynamic
