I've posted this on another forum earlier, but no replies, so I hope I can responses from you guys :)

Hello!

In simple words: I can port forward port 80, but not other ports such as 27015.

Okay, so a couple of months ago, I purchased an Asus RT-AC68U router to connect to my modem/router, a Technicolor TG589vn v2.
I have my modem connected to the wall thing, and my router connected to the modem. Other devices are connected to the router, and so as my computer via ethernet.

I want to host dedicated games such as CSGO and Terraria, but I need to forward some ports.

So, on my modem, I port forwarded the appropriate ports needed for both games. The device I forwarded the ports to, is to my router, because that was the only device listed. Now on my router, I forwarded those same ports to my computer, my IPv4 address. I applied all settings, and went to Open Port Check Tool to check if my ports were opened. I tried 7777 (Terraria), and the ports were closed. I thought maybe that it took some time to refresh, so I started up my Terraria server. Once the server was up, I checked the ports again, and they were opened.
I then checked the CSGO ports (27015), and they were not open. Odd. I could play Terraria fine, and with my friend as well. Though after I closed the server, and used the port checker again, it said that my ports were now closed...?

So next, I tried CSGO. I started up my server, and tried to connect to the server using a command "connect [external ip]:27015". And I could not connect to it.

I then tried to experiment port 80. I opened port 80 on both the modem and router to my computer and it worked. But before I did open that port, it said that it was closed. I unassigned port 80 from my router, and checked to see if the port was still open, but it wasn't. I opened it again, checked it, and it worked.

The day after I posted that, I tried testing more things:

OKay, I read that port 80 should always be open because that port is what allows me to connect to the interwebs? But then I'm more confused because of how if I don't manually open the ports, then the port checker says my ports aren't open.

I have tried disabling UPnP on both modem and router, restarted both, but still no worky.
I also tried enabling UPnP on modem, and disabled on router, and also vice-versa, restarted both, and still doesn't work.

I did a bit of searching about my specific router, and other ASUS routers. In one or two threads, they have disabled a setting known as "Nat/Hardware Acceleration". I tried disabling that, rebooting my router, and still no luck.

Here are some images of my modem/router settings:

Yes, that IP is my PC's IPv4 address listed in cmd>ipconfig

Any help would be very much appreciated :)

thanks!

Let me know if I need to provide any more information

1. You need to set the Technicolor TG589vn v2 to bridge mode, aka just a dumb modem, so that the Asus is the only router.

Go to 192.168.1.254 (default address)
Under "Technicolor Gateway" on the left click "Configuration", then click "Setup my Technicolor Gateway" at the bottom under the "Pick a task..." section. The follow the instructions in the wizard and select bridge mode.

2. Reserve a static address for your hosting pc, so it always has the same IP number.
3. Port forward your port numbers to that IP address.

A while ago, about a month, I tried enabling my modem as bridge mode, but afterwards I wasn't able to receive any Internet connection, and wasn't able to get back into my modem settings to revert back the settings, so I had to push the button on my model to do a full reset on it.

This is an image I found on another site: http://www.gpforums.co.nz/attachment.php?attachmentid=204088&d=1431388784
I'm on my mobile, so I found what the wizard looks like. Are these the settings that I have to set, or do I gotta change anything?
Do I have to do anything on my router after setting my modem as a bridge?

I went onto what you said, but I wasn't able to receive any internet connection after the modem has been put into bridge mode.
Here's what I did.
First I went onto the setup wizard.

I chose "Bridge Mode"

Used these settings:

And untick this:

After modem was set into bridge mode, had no internet connection, so I restarted my router, and problem still exists.
