Hello all! I have a problem that's been bothering/frustrating me for a while now, I've done a lot of research and done a lot of things but they all didn't work, please help me troubleshoot, thank you very much for your help! And excuse my English.

Purpose of Port Forwarding
I'm not doing anything crazy, I'm playing the game Rainbow Six Siege on a PC and I have a moderate instead of an open type NAT. This is frustrating as i can't host a game.

What I have done
I've researched a lot, and there are many solutions out there, but they are mainly all about port forwarding, and this is what I need help with. Note that I have UPNP turned on, so that's one less thing to worry about.

(Sorry for the long list, but I want to give provide as much info as possible for better trouble shoot)

Note that although some suggested to open port 80 and 443, I did not do it because I heard it's a big security issue. However I tried to open port 80 and it did make my NAT to open, I don't want to keep it open though, and that's not the problem I'm describing for this thread.

Ports Won't Open
I downloaded the PFPortChecker from portforward.com to see if my ports are really opened, and this is where my problem begins, they are still CLOSED! For example, if I check port TCP 14000, it says "Your port is not open or not reachable"

Trying to troubleshoot
I tried to turn on DMZ, and it did in fact turn my NAT into open, and when I test my port, it's OPENED!.

However, I was just troubleshooting and I don't want to leave my PC exposed. I'm not sure what this implies, i guess it means that my computer is not broken, and it's just something is still preventing my ports to be opened when the DMZ is closed (since DMZ grants total exposure).

So, I completely shut down my Anti-virus software along with its firewall, also my windows 10 fire walls (for both private and public networks), I also went to my router's firewall setting, and selected the lowest possible setting for IPV4 (IPV6 is disabled BTW). This did not work, my 14000 port is closed this time.

Confused
At this point I'm pretty sure the reason I'm still getting a moderate NAT is because my ports are still closed somehow. Some may say that for a port to be forwarded successfully it needs set up on both sides, i don't think that's the problem in my case, since I'm testing with a dedicated port testing program, and it worked when DMZ was enabled. Also turning off all firewalls did not make the port open, so at this point I'm not sure what to do.

Thank you
Thank you for reading such a long thread, and I hope I explained the scenario enough, if not please let me know, and thank you very much for your time for helping me troubleshoot.

Some more Info / edits
- I have verizon FIOS, tried both direct wired and wifi adapter, neither worked
- I tried to turn on "find on network" function in the network setting, did not help
- Like many online sources suggested, I set my IP to static and it didn't help

Router/Modem Port Forwarding Guide

Actiontec GT704WG & GT704WGB gateways

Step 1: Open your web browser and enter router’s IP address (192.168.0.1 by default) in the address bar. Enter username (“admin” by default) and then password (“password” by default).

Step 2: Navigate to Security > Applications. Select the camera on your network where you want to use port forwarding in the PC Name field. Select User in the Category list and click New.

Step 3: Enter a name for your port forwarding rule in the Rule Name field.
Select TCP in protocol and enter camera’s port number in port start, port end and port map start. Click Apply to save your rule settings.

Click Back to return to the Applications screen.

Step 4: Select the name of the rule you just created in the Available Rules box and click Add to use this port forwarding rule on camera. Click Apply.

Thank you, although I use a different router but that's (almost) exactly what I did on mine. I've also tried that website and it didn't work, that's why I heard a program is more reliable than a website and it didn't work as well. My ports won't open even after forwarding.

I do believe I have set the forwarding right, but something is preventing the port from opening.
