Hey all,
I just got my first build up and running. Performance is nice and temperatures seem to be pretty good, but I don't know if I am causing airflow issues inside my case. The big one that comes to mind is the bottom mounted power supply working against my gpu? Also, I am wondering if my intake / exhaust fans are setup as efficiently as they could be? I don't know if any of this info is necessary, but here is my build;
Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 Case
Corsair Gaming Series 700 Watt PSU
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO Mobo
AMD Phenom ii 980 BE OC to 4.0ghz
Corsair H80
Corsair Vengeance 4x4
Corsair Force Seriers GT 120gb
Western Digital Caviar Black 7200 1TB
HIS 6770 IceQ Turbo
When I initially got the H80 I followed Corsair's instructions and had the fan's facing inward acting as intake fans and setup it to medium and my idle temps were about 19C and about 28C under load but it seemed that it really apposed the airflow direction in the case. Just this morning I turned it around to an exhaust fan which seems to make more sense overall but now my idle temps are like 28C and like 33C under load which seems to be a significant difference. I did a quick sketch in paint to illustrate my current airflow, please excuse my poor drawing 🙁 . There is one more 120mm fan on the side of the case next to the gpu. It came setup as an exhaust fan but it is not shown in the picture.
Sorry for the long post - I really have 3 main questions:
1. Is my bottom mounted psu working agianst my gpu (gpu idles at 38C and about 52C under load)? If so, what can I do about it?
2. Should I move my H80 back as an intake fan?
3. Should any of the fans change their direction? The front intake and top exhaust are case mounted.
