Possible Damaged Motherboard? Unfinished Build

Basically I put together my PC earlier (sans CPU since it hasn't arrived yet) and it doesn't appear to be powering on at all really - which is a bit concerning because the motherboard kind of got beat up along the way.

I KNOW, I KNOW, it's obviously not going to go to bios or anything without the CPU! But I flipped the switch on the power supply and then pressed the case power button expecting at least some fans to spin up or whatever. All I get is a white LED on my GPU and a green LED on my motherboard (even the PSU LED switch is a no-go!) and the mobo speaker doesn't say anything either.

What has me concerned is that while building the computer, I accidentally lowered the motherboard into the case and even scootched it around a bit, without the standoffs being installed yet, so the back honestly dragged along the case interior a little bit. As I understand it that can kill it =( anyways, I took it out and popped in the standoffs and assembled everything as per usual. Aside from that and the tiny little things that everyone is perpetually scared of (what if I zapped it with a static charge so small I didn't even notice it? What if a drop of sweat fell in or something while I was working? A hair? and etc.) I don't believe anything could have occurred to damage the components.

As for the components, I've got:

MOBO: Asus Z97-E
GPU: Asus Strix 970
RAM: 16GB (2x8) Ripjaws X (1866)
HDD: Cav Blue 1TB
SSD: Kingston 120GB
PSU: Antec HCG 750M
Case: Rosewill Challenger
It hasn't arrived yet but I'll be using an i5-4690k and a 212 Evo as a cooler.

Anyways I know there's a few different things that could be up and it's pretty hard to test for sure without a processor but I just want to know if you guys think something is dead or not, or if this is normal. I understand some mobos won't allow any power without the CPU fan plugged in or without a processor, so I'm hoping it's that for right now!

Solution
Motherboard is fine and the computer is fine as well. Wait for the CPU goof.... This should not even be a thread lol. FYI, do not power on a computer without the CPU. It will not cause damage but the reason it does not boot is because there has to be very specific pins touching on the CPU and motherboard to even boot and without those it will not even power up. However the PSU will still shift power into the rest of the components in the meantime which is not good. Do not do that anymore. Just wait

The CPU needs to be in to even start the machine. When the system is off and connected to power, it sends power to the reset pin to keep the CPU "off". When you hit the power button, the PSU starts supplying power and sends a "power_good" signal to the motherboard, with cuts power to the reset line, and then the CPU wakes up and starts things moving. Without the processor telling things to start up, nothing will happen.
