Possible issue with my GPU but not sure.

so I've got a gigabyte windforce R9-270 that's displaying to a 1440x900 monitor. my issue is that when i boot up games, all the presets and graphic settings are on high and ultra. Even ARMA 3, i booted it up, started playing for a couple of hours then went into the graphics settings to turn them up since it was playing so smooth, and they were all cranked. I don't know if there's an issue or not, or if its just able to do this since its pushing to a lower res display but im worried there might be some kind of issue. also, i was just wondering how i put my build up on my toms hardware forum profile. any one know?

can you further explain ?
you said that when you run the games they are on high settings and smooth so why do you want to crank them up more ?
btw, the screen resolution has a great impact on the performance so low res is more smooth.

it was ARMA 3, i didnt know what the graphics were set on at the time and since it was running so smoothly i figured i crank it up a bit but they were already maxed out. my issue is that i dont know if there is something wrong with my gpu or if i got the wrong one somehow. when i was researching for my build everyone said that any AMD card below a 290x or 295 was shit and any card exept those two would barely play games at medium settings. so im just really confused since the card i got seems to be doing a lot better than everyone was saying it would do.

I'm running an Athlon 2 X2 250 at 3.0 ghz will that be able to get me through college (starting in a week) or will i need to upgrade that and the MOBO soon?

ur resolution is 25% less than full hd so u woyld lose 25% of those fps normaly if u were playing on full hd.Your gpu is fine. People who say shet about amd gpus are shet themselves . Keep gaming bro and ignore those shetheads.

thank you so much dude. much appreciated. my computer is major ghetto right now so knowing that my gpu isnt on the fritz or something is a big load off.
