Hey.

I bought a new power supply for my computer and everything has been going great until last night. My computer was off and all of a sudden I heard some weird sound coming from my computer and then it stopped. I checked to see what happened and my outlet broke. Now when I boot up my computer it only turns on for a few minutes and shuts down again.

I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

What happened to the original power supply?

When you say turns on, do you get a display output? Or just the lights and fans, and then it shuts itself off?

Sounds like something blew up. Probably just need to strip it down to the bare essentials and see what happens.

Steps:
Remove everything but the CPU, Motherboard, 1 stick of memory and the powersupply. If it stays on, plug in the display to see what you have (and/or install the GPU if needed).

If it is still black screen then it may be dead. Only real way to test components is to try them in a known working system.

If it is working though, continue to add components one at a time until it stops working, then you have found what likely broke.

The old power supply broke. The computer is pretty old. It's a HPZ400. I do get display it's just my computer turns on. I type my password it unlocks and logs off and shuts down immediatly.
