Possible static electricity damage?

I packaged my GTX 970 w/ backplate using a white paper shopping bag and then some clear bubble wrap. Should I be ok/im just paranoid or can this actually lead to problems.

Your best bet would've been using the original packaging of your gtx 970. But since that may not have been possible for whatever reason... You can more or less rest easy, knowing the bubble wrap used will (or should) protect said gpu from any possible static electricity damage.

Not true, unless this was metalized or pink bubble wrap. Clear bubblewrap can generate static.

Unknown if you did any damage.

My thanks, I stand corrected. As you said, only pink or metalized bubble wrap is anti static.

Unknown. What's done is done. All you can do is attempt to use it. Static damage can show up immediately by not working or later as a BSOD or visual artifact. There is no way to predict.

The most sensitive pieces are the actual GPU and RAM. They are both protected by the heatsink and shroud. If the card has a backplate on it, then that is additional protection.

You need a psychic forum rather than a tech forum to predict the future ...
