Possible to upgrade CPU?

I have an Dell Inspiron 3520. I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the cpu? I have heard some laptops CPU are soldered in, and other are just socketed. If anyone could let me know if this one is or isn't that would help a lot. 😀 Thx

That specific cpu is integrated into the motherboard I believe. So it would not be replaceable from what I can tell.

some models can be but we need to know the model number of your processor to advise and upgrade

I have a 3520 with an i3-2370m

it looks to be upgradeable to ivy bridge i5's

I would never recommend upgrading your cpu in a laptop, the cooling is very limited. I would recommend buying a desktop or a new laptop depending on what you use your PC for.

um 1 laptop hardware can get up to 90c before turning off

and 2 laptop cooling and your arguement of changing cpu doesnt hold water when these cpus are basicly in the same shell anyway when in the factory they dont change the cooling method for every laptop model its usually the same

I am going to buy a i5-3210m and replace the i3-2370m that is currently in my laptop. not only will it be a better CPU but it will also give me 4000 gpu which is a much better gpu than the 3000 I currently have.

I just did an upgrade on an older Acer Aspire 7741z. went from a 1.86ghz Pentium to a first gen i5 it is ridiculous how much faster it is and even during heavy load (prime95) for more than 4 hours it never got over 75C.

Its not irrelevant is someone on a budget (me) wants to upgrade a laptop they just purchased on the cheap and wants to know if it able to get beefed up.

A quick look at ebay shows the i5 3210m costs about 50-60 bucks witch will breath tons of like into this laptop. So instead of buying a new 500$ laptop you can just upgrade your older one to a new processor for a fraction of the cost.

first of i5 3210 will not work its ivy bridge in a sandy board it aint gonna work heres why

your i3 is a sandy which uses socket type PPGA988

Thank you for replying to my thread! A few days ago I received an email regarding this thread. Seeing this brought new light as to what my options are regarding a CPU upgrade. I do still have the Inspiron 3520, and still do wish to upgrade the CPU.
I do hope you are able to successfully upgrade your laptop, and please let me know how this goes!
