Hi - odd question, but I'm currently running (listing relevant components only)

MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Motherboard
Ryzen 3700X
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3466 MHz C16 XMP 2.0

The RAM has been in the system for 3 and a half years and works fine.

I have been offered a relatively cheap, second hand (but no concerns over reliability, age etc as it has barely been used) Ryzen 5800X3D. I have the latest BIOS for my board and also have a cooler that will work fine with it (a DarkRock TF2).

For various reasons, I don't want to upgrade my motherboard at this point (I'll switch to Am5 when I next need a board - or Intel if AMD isn't looking great). My concern is that the RAM that I'm using isn't listed in the compatibility list on the MSI website for the RX5xxx controller - although it is for the RX 3xxx controller

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX/support#mem

So, the question is, am I going to run into a RAM problem if I swap out my 3700X for a 5800X3D on this board? Or am I worrying about nothing?

[RAM has been edited because I'm stupid and didn't check my invoice/system specs properly]

I'm not against upgrading the RAM if I can find something faster that works with the motherboard.

The compatibility list is a bit confusing though. It lists things like the SK Hynix HMAA1GU6CJR6N-XN with a SPD speed of 3200MHz but supported speed of 2666 MHz - does this mean that it won't actually reach 3200MHz?

In the immediate term though (prior to changing the RAM), you're relatively confident that the RAM I'm currently using fine with the 3700X will work with the 5800X3D on the same board?

1,2v RAM isn't an issue for Ryzen. You should be more worried about the low speed of the RAM because it kills the performanceof the CPU. Better get a 3200 MT/s kit.

I'm running them with an XMP profile at 3466Mhz - does that make it better?

[Edit] I'm being a moron - I got confused by checking what I had ordered on Amazon.

I'm actually running this: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3466 MHz C16 XMP 2.0

If the CPU plugs into the motherboard and can use it, it'll take in whatever else is plugged into the motherboard. If this wasn't the case, it'd make upgrading a massive headache.
Just to round this one out, got the processor, stuck it in and works fine!

Idling at 30 degrees (ambient 21 degrees) gets up to 72ish on a stress test and gaming framerates are now really smooth. I think those temps are good for the chip.

Thanks for the help and advice everyone.

Remember that the manufacturer can't test every stick of RAM that is out there now or in the future. They'll tend to test a couple around the release and leave it at that.
I have 3 active systems here and none has memory that is on the list. (Because none of the RAM I have existed when they made their respective lists) They all run perfectly fine.

DDR4-3466 will run fine on the 5800X3D. DDR-3600 is pretty much a guarantee and many 5000 Ryzen can also run DDR4-3800 with 1:1 IF clock.

Your RAM will be fine with it.
Would it run a bit faster with faster RAM? yes.
Is it worth buying new 3600 or 3800 RAM over your current 3466 for it? Not really.
Even the difference between 3200 and 3800 is tiny. The big cache really mitigates some of the need for fast memory.
