Ohh... one more thing...

It depends on what CPU the BIOS in whatever laptop you have will be able to recognize the "new" CPU. While a 2nd generation Core CPU like the i5-2410m or i7-2620m may physically fit in the CPU socket, if the BIOS does not recognize the CPU, then your laptop may not even boot up.

Also, those CPUs may produce more heat (higher TDP) than the laptop was designed to handle. In that case those CPUs definitely will not be recognized by the BIOS as a valid CPU for the laptop.

This totally comes down to what you laptop you have.

First and foremost the laptop has to have a socketed CPU. Many laptops (to be 1/8" thinner) have the CPU soldered directly to the motherboard, thus a swap is not possible.

Secondly the laptop motherboard has to support the CPU you want to put in. This all comes down to how many CPUs the BIOS was designed to work with; thus your laptop could support any moble sandybridge CPU, or just a couple, it all depends on how the OEM developed it.

first, my socket is g2. so is not thin like modern laptop
second, how i know if this cpu is support the bios? can u give the solution?

my socket is pga988 or called g2

so i must upgrading bios or something?

but its supporting hm65?
