My room's a junkheap too, so don't worry. College kiddies are entitled to have messy rooms.

How can you have room for a big tower like the 3D Aurora in your room? Must take up a lot of space.

I also see a lot of people using the Viewsonic VX2025wm. Great display, isn't it?

It's a Silverstone TJ106. I repainted the interior flat black to darken things up a bit and it turned out pretty good. Runnin Blue cathodes atm and I like the way it turned out. Might try some green ones and see how that looks. Here's a shot of it in darkness (sorry it's a bit blurry)

Pristine wiring! I plan on rewiring mine as soon as i get a different motherboard (I am running an ab9 standard and it severely cripples my overclocking abilities- choosing between teh infamous gigabyte ga-965p-dq6, abit aw9d-max and the asus p5n32-sli premium). I also would like to find the time to re-route my water hoses. Other than that, its not too bad in my 3d aurora. Also, to an earlier comment, the viewsonic vx2025 IS a manly monitor lol, but I also got it becasue it looks good even when its not at its native resolution, for taxing games and stuff. And also teh 3d aurora is a monstrous case, and had to compensate for other stuff in the dorm lol.

The new one is in my signature. Don't have a new digital camera, so no pics yet.

The old PC:

P4 Northwood 2.8 533 fsb
Cooler Master RS450 real power with 22 amps on the 12 volt rail.
D865PERL
2 gigs Corsair VS DDR400 in 4 512 meg sticks
100 gig Maxtor SATA
400 gig Seagate IDE
All in Wonder Radeon 9800 Pro
Pacific Digital 8x DVD R+/RW
15" AOC Spectrum 5e
Windows XP Home sp2 retail

Mostly used to record TV shows that can be watched on the TV with TV out and used by our 6 year old. The Radeon 9800 Pro cuts through Reader Rabbit Math like you wouldn't believe

It's in a white RAIDMAX case.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new PC is running OEM Windows Media Center Edition 2005 (XP Professional) and will get the following upgrades in the next two months:

Seasonic 500 watt PSU with something like 34 amps on the 12 volt rail.

Another 1 gig stick of Kingston DDR2 667 budget RAM

Either an 8800GTS or an 8600 Ultra

I'm also looking into whether it's reasonable to overclock the X2 3800+ Windsor EE CPU using the stock AMD fan.

The MSI barebones' case is pretty cool, it's black with a blue light strip across the bottom front just above the panel for the front USB. It can be found at Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16856167009

The Lite On drive is white, so I should probably find a black paneled model and then I can move it back to the Northwood and retire the 8x.

Nothing that exciting about it from an enthusiast standpoint, but it's been a very successful and stable build since I put it together around January 20th.

When the AMD AM2 R690G arrives, I think I'll build a third PC just so I can use a DX10 ATI card. The Nvidia 405 chipset restricts me to Nvidia cards on the PC in my signature. On the other hand, I might go for an AMD C2D 1250 chipset board instead, if it's basically the equivalent of the 690G (ie an X700 onboard, I like onboard graphics as a backup for troubleshooting GPU issues when and if they arise).

Nice monitors most of you have. I'm saving up for a couple of 19" Viewsonic LCDs. The 17" Viewsonic CRT is tolerable, but that 15" AOC needs to go to the recyclers.

No pics, but here goes...

AMD X2 4600+
2GB DDR400
X1950Pro AGP
MSI K8T-Neo2
2x120GB HDD
1x250GB HDD
2x300GB SATA in Raid 1
DL DVD Burner
19" LG Flatron LCD
600W Ultra Modular PSU

Built the base system 2+ years ago (originally a A64 3200+, 1GB RAM, and 9800 Pro). Upgraded CPU/RAM in August, GPU in Feb, hoping to squeeze at least another year out of this one...

The RIG:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
GA-965P-DS3
2X512 (1GB) Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 MHZ 5-5-5-12
OCZ GameXtreme 600W
eVGA 7600 GT KO
Thermaltake Armor Case

2nd Rig:

AMD 64 X2 3800+
GA-K8N-SLI
2X1GB Corsair XMS DDR 400 MHZ 4-4-4-12
500W Generic PSU
Generic Case
ATI X1600 Pro 512 MB

Sorry no pictures yet.

Sharp build you have there. Are you happy with the GPU or do you plan to upgrade soon?

Thanks man. I was waiting on the R600 to see what it was going to do but I am not sure now. I may just get a 8800GTX and forget about it.
