Those are still impressive results though, since you are using maximum quality. But again, it's the poor X800XT performance that ruins it badly. I can only imagine what a 6800 Ultra would do if it had all these optimizations.

It does have the optimizations. The game is built for that card. These tweaks are just the opposite of what iD did for nvidia cards.

Watch out for the bloody Fanboys!

AMD64 2800+ :: MSI Neo-Fis2r :: 512mb Kingmax ddr400 :: Sapphire 9800pro 128mb :: 10K WD Raptor

Addicted, finally.

And even then, it's not enough for the X800s.

I still say Carmack was not paid by nVidia nor decided to make the NV40 better, but because he made use of each card's available advantages for his game's features.
nV ended up pretty lucky, a lot because of enhanced shadow technologies and then some other things from the NV40 set. Anyone know what other features were extracted from the NV40 technology into DOOM III?

Who in the name of God, wants to play anythin like Doom 3. It's a shitty game, made by a shitty developer. I rather play windows pinball.

OK, I have played the demo now, and I am glad that GW made me return the retail game. :wink: Thanks for the advice GW.

I'll admit it looked very good and was fun at times, but I've had enough already. I can't wait until next Summer and the release of HL2. :frown:

Sorry to hear about that. Can't say it's the same here, but oh well.

Well, if I was playing the retail, I probably would keep playing and maybe finish it. But this demo doesn't make me feel I need or even want to buy the game. The farcry demo, made me go out and buy the game. I think in general, i like good looking huge outdoor maps over dark indoor ones.

u mean gameplay !
D3 sucks in that. But still, its like a collectors edition. Try it out and sell it off later.

No problem.

I'm seriously piissed off that I paid for this game.

I can only hope that the disks will be required for some cool Doom 3 mod that I'm pretty sure is coming up in the very extremely near future.

I'm surprised that I haven't played Doom more since I bought it, especially since I beat it I've barely touched it. I'm back to playing Thief😀S which I actually enjoy more overall. I still think Doom is scary at night in a pitch-black room- there are few games that really do that to me. I'll keep the game, but I probably won't play it as much as I had anticipated... I wish it had more variety. (Or any variety!!!)
