I have a Windows NT 4 server with 2 NICS. NIC1 connects to my internal network that included 3 workstations. The NIC2 connects to a DSL model/router/firewall. I am using Routing and Remote Access on the NT 4 server along with Sygate Internet sharing software to allow the users on the internal network to use the DWL modem to access the Internet, browse the web etc. Although this server/network setup is antiquated, it has worked well for awhile. However recently, users are unable to get to certain websites that they used to be able to (ex: they can go to webmail.aol.com but when they login, their connection times out, they can go to www.hotmail.com, but after logging in, their connection times out with a DNS error). None of the workstations on the network can access certain sites (such as aol e-mail, hotmail, etc) but all of these sites are accessible when browsing from the server. All Internet activity is not blocked thouugh, most other sites are accessible. I have checked my firewall/router and verified that I am not blocking ports/etc.

Do I have a routing issue? Help!

Thanks in advance for your help!
Dave

This sounds like the DNS entries are expiring on your Sygate. I don't
know if Sygate caches DNS or not but look for them and see if someone
tweaked the settings. It could also be a corrupted DNS cache on your
ISP or a slow DNS server.

i have reinstalled sygate and verified my dns and gateway settings and still have the problem. Strangely enough, I cant access e-mail sites (ex: if you login to hotmail, yahoo or aol, the pages that would normally display your list of e-mail messages (inbox) times out.

Not sure/ but I'd check the tcp/ip settings again for internet connection sharing options.
I did some research, really looks like its the Sygate Internet sharing software, is it an Server addition, If it just the client software installed on a server, thats you problem,, test me, try uninstalling it, and then check the internet.
norton corporate portection is affordable and works if you get the server edition. Dont ever use mc afee!!!!!Windows hates it!!
