Hi.
New to building towers - required because the old one is too slow.

Wondering if this is a good enough build for music production & gaming.

I plan to use my original GPU for the time being, and probably my old hard drive, and everything else (screen etc)

Main reason for build is that I need a new CPU (Athlon II X2) - new one wont be compatible with old mobo, and new mobo wont fit in old case with all the parts cleanly.

Solution
build looks great. i have no comments or recommendations. that almost never happens. good job haha.

on a side note, keep in mind that 650w is not enough if you plan on getting a high end amd gpu. the r9 390 needs 750w with an overclocking system like this. i'd recommend the r9 390 over the 970.

It's my old gpu - I plan to upgrade at a later date, but I may just add an up to date gpu to the build, and save for a little longer.

Thanks for the response - I spent 3 days doing research; reading online guides & conversations on this site and others to put it together, so I'm glad it came out well.

The only thing i would add is that motherboard can take higher clocked speed ram. For about the same price (here in the us) you can find some 2133 or even 2400 sticks. Just a thought , not going to make a huge difference.

here's what speeds your motherboard will support-

DDR3 3200(O.C.)/ 3100(O.C.)/ 3000(O.C.)/ 2933(O.C.)/ 2800(O.C.)/ 2666(O.C.)/ 2500(O.C.)/ 2400(O.C.)/ 2200(O.C.)/ 2133(O.C.)/ 2000(O.C.)/ 1866(O.C.)/ 1600/ 1333

Thank you - I'll keep that in mind when it's time to buy.
Will the extra clock speed increase the overall voltage - and if so, will it be an issue for the overall build?

Disregard my last post i was looking at some 1.6 volt kits. Haswell chips prefer to stay at 1.5v so the ram you chose is actually very nice for your build. From what i've learned you want the highest clock speed at 1.5v with the lowest cas latency.

your 16 gigs running at 1866 with 1.5v, cas 10 , for that price is a great deal :)

Sweet - I'm looking forward to building this tower :bounce:

Thanks.
I guess it would make sense to add a more powerful PSU to the build, so that I can run something like the 390 in the future.
£296.99 on Amazon... Wow...
I guess you get what you pay for though right?
