Power button problems

I just started a new system build and used the manual to connect the power button switch. It did nothing. I placed all wires where they should have been and nothing happened no lights or anything. I moved the PLed to a different slot just to test it and it turned on but i still cant figure out what to do with the power switch. I dont think the motherboard is broken since it worked on the PLed but im not sure. Im using the Strix Z270E gaming motherboard.

If shorting the 2 pins PWR and GND with a screwdriver, does the board start?

Can you explain or send a video showing how to do this? I dont want to accidently ruin my motherboard if it turns out it is running fine.

I will try this later but i forgot to mention one last thing. When i plug in the PLed in the Powerswtich section they light up but the Powerswitch in the same section does not function.

My motherboard lights turn on and the Pled comes on but i cant power on by the actual switch or by shorting it. Nothing happens. Is my motherboard dead and what new one would you recommend?

See if a fan connected to it does spin.
Try also testing the board outside the case, no other components than CPU and CPU cooler.

I can confirm that the psu fan along woth the case fans DID spin. Ill test it with other components later.
