Power consumption after adding second HDD to laptop

Hi all i have a laptop which has a 120gb ssd. as i have to add large programs that take up tens of Gb of space i have been thinking of adding a second storage medium (replacing my cd rom with either an ssd or hdd) i am worried about power consumption and i was wondering if i am better off with buying adding a $60 ssd or just using the spare hdd in terms of power consumption? thanks to all and wishing happy new year to all of you!

a ssd and a hdd both take around 10watts its not big and you will be fine because rom drives take 40-50watts
