Power consumption of pixels

Hi,

Is the power consumption of any monitor determined by the amount of pixels it has or is it by the size of the monitor?

Another way to ask ist:
Does a single pixel consume the same amount of power by all screens or the consumption varies because of its size?

And is the answer the same with LCD & LED devices?

The power consumption has many aspects that affect it. Backlight, display type, res, size, hz, and even the monitor controller. Take two of the same spec monitors, 1080p, 24", 60hz, led, tn, same brightness, no speakers and one could be 25w and the other 50w. Power consumption of monitors is really low compared to the actual pc itself. What made you ask about power consumption of monitors?

Lcd is the display. Almost every flat screen monitor is lcd. You don't see much plasma nowadays and oled is rather new so isn't too common. The backlight is led on most modern monitors as opposed to ccfl in the past. A single pixel will be different power because they will be different sizes as well as type like tn, ips, va.

My interests have grown because of mobile devices.

With an example of some phones - the one is 6" with 1080p and the other is 6" with 720p - case 1 both LCDs; case 2 both AMOLEDs - will the first phone need more power or the need will be the same?

Amoled will use less power than the lcd. But if you are looking at phones, what about the batteries?

I think you dont understand me - both phones are lcd - will the first one need more power? and if they were amoled - is the answer the same?

There's more too it than just knowing it's lcd and having different res. In theory the lower res would take less but no one can really answer which screen will take less without more info about the displays.
