Hello
I purchased a refurbished Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Xtreme from a reputable PC store, and after putting it altogether, the MB would just cut power and turn off and reboot. I've since sent the board back to the retailer and they've been testing it for 6 days and haven't had an issue. They suggested it was my CPU which is a 12900KS, and was purchased at the same time and same store as the MB.
I tested the 12900KS with Cinebench with an ASRock Z790 NOVA Wifi, and it ran for a full 10 minute Cinebench no problem. I've also test the board with different RAM, and it still crashed.
I'm not sure what is causing it to lose power and reboot, and would mainly happen when benchmarking in Cinebench about 2/3 minutes in. The CPU doesn't exceed 95 degrees as its cooled with 3x 360 RADs. I would also cut power during gaming, and completely random reboot when idle. I checked all cables, and connections, reseated everything as well. Updated the BIOS and also downgraded the BIOS. Changed numerous setting in the BIOS. Upped CPU power and downed CPU power.
My specs are
12900KS
z790 xtreme
7900XTX
Corsair 1500w
4xnvme
4xSSD
XD5 pump
9 case fans
The retailer has tested with
14700k
RTX4090
1200w PSU
1x nvme
Windows 11
They've tested benchmarks
"3DMark Steel Nomad and Speed Way to get started, and then ran AIDA64 for a CPU and GPU load, which ran for 6 days without crashing, monitoring temperatures and power draw in HWiNFO to make sure it was pulling as much power as possible during the stress."
Anyone have any idea what is happening, as the retailer also asked if I could add anything further to assist.
