I just want to know what people are running and what differences it makes. Will max performance draw a lot more power overall or just when its stressed? And why run it ever if adaptive does indeed adapt? What are the benefits/penalties of using maximum performance if any?

Thanks for any help. I haven't had a Nvidia card in a while.

I use performance. I found that with adaptive, the cards would down clock when I was getting high FPS. With a 120hz monitor, I want FPS up to 120hz, and adaptive would drop it to 90 FPS and clock the cards to half (at least with Diablo 3). Performance would use their full standard clocks at the least, allowing for constant 120 FPS.
