Power Supplies, best, most reliable?

So I have been going over this in my head for at least a month. Good thing my old PSU isn't that old but I am afraid it is going to start going soon.

Currently I have a Corsair AX750 80+ Gold purchased in Q3 2013, it is a bit overkill for my single GPU setup but it works well and hasn't had any issues despite being left in a garage for about a year.

But as I mentioned it has a few things I need to have upgraded.
1.) I don't have any of the extra cables or the packaging, which sucks because I have a Zotac AMP! Extreme 1080 and it uses 2 8-pin connectors, luckily my PSU either isn't fully modular or my friend (who gave me the old system which I have since completely overhauled except the PSU) had an extra one in there and I was able to use two 6-pin in the adapters to power my GPU. But it looks crappy and it's taking up a little bit too much space for my liking.
2.) its getting old and I have no room to do anything more if I wanted to add a GPU I would be SOL.

So I have been looking into other PSU's.

So starting out what I want is something fully modular, that comes with nice braided cables, and just that premium feel to it, and of course leaves room for expansion if I so choose to later, but won't screw me at lower utilization.

But most importantly, will last for years without crapping out on me or giving me trouble.

Now about GPU's, if I want to add a GPU later, and I fully plan on upgrading to a 1080 Ti Amp Extreme, when they become available, I would be able to utilize SLI. So I am looking at at least an 850W plus PSU, more than I need at the moment but gives me the flexibility to add later, if I so choose. So whatever I get has to be at least 850/860W.

So let's get down to business.

These are my contenders in order of how much I want them, each has it's own drawbacks, namely in all the reviews I have seen of them being DOA, or crapping out in either a few days, weeks or months, and WCS, exploding and taking the system with it.

1) Corsair AX860i
I have heard enough bad to keep me away so far or I might already have it, mostly power cycling issues when it randomly shuts down and begins an endless boot cycle, it seems keeping the fan on alleviates this so I am more comfortable with it now.
2) EVGA Supernova 850 P2
The reviews on this scare the hell out me, apparently there is a tiny chance it will fry my system, not cool bro.
3)EVGA Supernova G2
The reviews on this are fantastic and it is one of the most highly rated pieces of hardware I have seen from a computer, but I would really like a platinum rated and the extra cables that come with them, like I said I want to be able to expand if I feel like it.

So I definitely don't want to go over 850W but I need an 850W and I don't want a Gold rated, I might just need to get over that but I want the best of the best, my whole system is top of the line stuff, so I need my power supply to be top of the line as well (within reason, of course, I'm not spending $400 for an AX1500)

What should I do?

Your specs would help. :)
The P2 is perfectly fine, not a chance of it frying your system imo, less so than the AX gold you have.
It is a very high quality unit, as is the G2.
The AXi is a bit of a ripoff imo, just uses fancy over the top methods of voltage regulation which the regular user won't touch at all, in addition to their crazy complicated software implementation.
Go for the HXi or P2, the HXi is the AXi minus the fancy software pretty much, and is what i'm using atm.
The P2 is much better value though.

P2: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/zhgPxr/evga-power-supply-220p20850x1

Then again if you want top of the line......: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/xdCrxr/seasonic-power-supply-snowsilent1050

If you want get some compatible cablemod custom sleeved cables, I have a red and black kit, and it makes the build look so much better especially if you have a windowed case.

If your current PSU is working and your components are somewhat old, I would suggest an upgrade in a different area instead.
What are your current specs?

The HXi cabling is crap. That's the only reason I don't want it, I don't know if other cables will work with it but if I have to buy cables I might as well get the AXi,
The rest of my system is brand new.

CPU: Intel i7 6700K
Cooler: Corsair Hydro H115i
MB: Asus ROG Maximus VIII Formula
RAM: 16GB (2 x 8GB) Coraair Dominator Platinum 3200MHz DDR4
Drive: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, with plans of adding a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2
Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow ed.
And the pride and joy of my build even though it's going to be upgraded Q1 2017, the GPU: Zotac GTX 1080 Amp! Extreme.

On top of that 5, 140mm LED fans with plans on upgrading to Corsair ML140s soon. Another reason I would prefer a Corsair PSU; Pretty much they manufactured half my build, more actually.

And Like I said in the original post I would like the option to add another 1080 Ti if I wanted to, hence the 850W.

There have been some really good sales with the X Series lately since they are clearing stock. The new Prime series is replacing it. The Primes are the best power supplies ever tested at 650, 750 and 850 watts by multiple review sites. Those just happen to be the only 3 units released yet. :)

Well I'm not necessarily looking for fine, i'm looking for premium top of the line stuff. The Hx cabling looks junky and cluttered to me, I hate ribbon looking stuff, I definitely want braided cables.
And as I mentioned I want the best and I'm willing to pay a little bit extra.
I mean look at my RAM, they aren't any better than Vengeance sticks but they are premiumand you can tell. Same thing with my GPU. The Zotac AE is maybe 2-3 fps more than cheaper cards but I want the best. If I wanted perfectly fine and cheap I would own a Supernova G2 already.

By 'perfectly fine' I was defending the fact that there's nothing wrong with them, not that they're bad. :)
Braided cables are a luxury, even the G2 cables are sleeved.
The HXi cables are very good as far as they come.
If you want braided cables you'll have to cough up for custom ones.

I just don't like the way they look, i'm just picky like that. Maybe my definitions aren't right though.

I want cables that are bundled together and covered with a single wrap around the whole thing. I guess I don't know what they are called. But they come with the AX series supplies. I like those and want to stick with those, they reduce the cluttered look. As I mentioned I am using an adapter on my GPU and its a bundle of individual sleeved wires and I hate the way it looks. I definitely don't want that around my entire build.

They might be a luxury but I can afford the luxury tax and am willing to spend it.

The Prime is definitely a contender I just haven't looked into them enough.

If I can get the cable style I want for a decent price the race is going to be btween the Seasonic Prime 850, and the HX860i, for sure. Love my Corsair stuff, but that Seasonic looks DAMN nice, i'm just not a fan of those cables. Looks are important to me. As far as the units themselves no doubt those are the best, but I want the cables I want :(

I think Corsair sells custom cables for their units so you might want to go with them. I'd imagine the Prime is too new to have them yet. Nothing wrong with the high end Corsair units at all, they are excellent. But there's only one 'best' power supply and it's the Prime. ;)

Looked into Prime more, it's settled. That's the one for me, I'm willing to live woth those cables for a PSU that highly rated by pretty much everyone even Tom's.

Thanks for the help all, should have looked deeper into the Prime before posting lol.

To be fair it's brand new. It took Seasonic a while longer than some competitors to release an 80 Plus Titanium line but it was worth the wait.

Well every review i've read so far say that its the best PSU they have ever tested so I am gonna stick with that. lol
