Power Supply Causing Random Shutoffs

So I was having random shutdowns (Kernel 41 error) a few weeks ago, and I went through a bunch of different ideas but I assumed it was my power supply. (EVGA Supernova 750 B2) So I replaced it with my old power supply (Corsair CX500) And it wasnt enough wattage for me to use multiple USB ports at the same time, however, the problem stopped and I didnt get random shut offs anymore. So I ordered another EVGA Supernova 750 B2, and it finally got here and I put it in and now I have enough power so all the USB ports work and everything is fine but I'm having the same problems again. It seems to only happen with this PSU. I highly doubt that BOTH of them, the first one being fairly new and this one being brand new are both faulty. So why does it keep causing my computer to shut off?

I know it is the PSU because I only get this problem with the 750's, and not with the 500. I have a GTX 970, and an FX-6300. The shutoffs occur randomly, sometimes while gaming, sometimes while doing literally nothing.

Is it possible that 750 is too much wattage for a GTX 970 or something?

Any help is appreciated.

How much extra wattage the unit puts out isn't an issue. An electronic device will only consume what it needs. Even being rated for 750watts, the PSU only actually produces the amount of power needed by the system and nothing more.

It's very possible that the new unit is faulty. It's an electronic device. Electronic devices are most likely to fail during "power on" events.

the power supply is 80+ bronze rated and the first one was only like 5 months old and the second is brand new, seriously? :??:

It should not be crashing like this. Its not the next most likey cpulprit, the motherbord, becuase it works with the other PSU. Its not the next one, the CPU, becuase again, its works with the other PSU. Your unit is DOA. Id return it/ exchange it for a new one, they should be replacing DOAs, expescaily EVGA.
