power supply/ duron800

would a duron 800 run on a 230W. power supply ("Frontier")?
What kind of problems could i have if attempting this?

I'm not sure, but I suppose that would be very very "on the edge." Check AMD's list of recommended power supplies.

Your system will most likely run just fine with a 230W PSU. I know a who runs his Athlon 700 (the old one...that consumes a LOT of power) and a GeForce 256 (which also consumes a lot of power) on a 150W PSU!!! the kind of problems you COULD encounter would be such things as system instability and crashes. It is also possible (but not very likely) that an overloaded PSU could be permanently damaged. If you are going to have one of the old GeForce cards together with the Duron in your system you should get a 300W power supply. Otherwise I would suggest you to give it a try. I don't think the CPU is in any danger of being damaged.
