Power supply exploded ??

Hey guys,
I just put my power supply in a new case. I used longer screws because I actually made the case and short screws wouldn't fit. I just touched the power cable to the power supply and then instantly a brown spark and a loud pop. Started to smell like something was burnt. The power supply seems to be completely dead. I removed the screws and the top right screw seems to be a little melted and burnt at the tip. This is a 450w Bronze SFX fractal design PSU. It seems like the screws were far too long and one had touched the interior of the psu and that broke it? Could anyone please clarify what they believe caused the problem? Any solutions? I don't have much money, and I don't really know what to do.

You pretty much already described the problem. If the screws were too long and one touched something on the inside of the PSU, and it shorted something out. Don't try to open up the PSU, even unplugged they contain high voltage. PSUs are not user-repairable. You will need a new PSU.

Highly unlikely as user error is not part of the return policy. Your actions killed it why should they cover the cost of your mistake.
Buy a new PSU and pray the PSU didn't take anything else with it.
