Power supply for gtx 295

Hello, was just planning on getting a gtx 295 for free from a friend and was wondering if my 500 watt power supply could handle it.

Probably not no, you should be looking at about 700w. 650w minimum. Remember to get your PSU from a reputable brand like Corsair, Seasonic, EVGA, XFX etc. and not a cheap one

Honestly, you could probably buy a new, faster graphics card (that your psu can actually power) for the same price as buying another psu.

There is no video card that is below 500w power supply, that is more powerful than a gtx 295 I believe (dont quote me)

Maybe the GT 740 was a bit too underpowered. A GTX 760/770 will thrash it though. Was just trying to make a point that in 2015, this 6 year old card is way past retirement.

You're using theoretical benchmarks of a dual GPU card. Also remember that most games don't scale well with SLI. Also the 295 doesn't support DX11.

Also the gtx 295 can play bf3 on the highest settings, and bf4 on high.
