Hi! :hello:
Im going to buy a HD4870 in the next week.
I have a Thermaltake 470W power supply now. Is it enough for a HD4870?

My PC:
Gigabyte EP45-DS3
Core 2 Duo E8500 (not overclocked)
2x2GB CSX CEC FAN KIT 1066MHz
[HD4870]
Samsung 640GB HDD
Thermaltake 470W power supply

You should be set.

A Review of a 4870x2 with QuadCore QX9650 @ 3.2 Ghz peaked at 410w.

Having a single 4870 and non-OC'd Dual should drop that number quite a bit.

As blade stated, Thermaltake's are decent CPUs so what you have should be just fine.

Apologies for piggybacking, but I have an Asus hd4870 Dark Knight coming. I planned on using an Antec True Power 550w circa 2004 (no six pins). Will this suffice with the correct adapters or should I update my psu?

um. it should work. as long as u have molex to 6pin pci adapters. but yes, a upgrade would be worth it. maybe a corsair psu no larger than 750 is needed

12v is 24amps Model is True550. I remember it was a pretty strong PSU back in my OC days. It has 7 pin atx plugs and wont power much else other than one sata hard drive and optical on a 780g mobo with the Phenom 9950.

Thanks for the quick replies
