Hello all,
There's been a fan in my PC making a really loud noise for a while and fluctuating massively. I thought it was the GPU for a while, but monitored the speeds and could see it was only going 17% and my CPU fans are going a similar speed. It really bugged me yesterday, so I decided to investigate further and noticed that it was the fan in my PSU. It happens from the moment I switch my PC on, even when it's been off for a while, it'll spin up to what I assume is full speed. Then it will fluctuate a bit through daily operations and occasionally (very occasionally) it goes quiet for about 5 seconds then back up to full speed.
It seems very much like something isn't right with it as the air in the room isn't particularly warm and the air exhausted doesn't feel particularly warm either. I tried lying my PC on its side as well to allow air intake to the bottom of the case. I just thought I would put this up here in case it turns out to be something else that might be causing it. I don't really want to buy a new PSU for it to just happen to that as soon as I plug it in.
Now my PSU is I believe an FSP Epsilon 1010W that I got when I RMA'd my old one. I can't actually find much info on it.
It's the oldest component in my system by far and will need updating at some point. Is this its way of telling me it's time? Or might something else be causing it?
