Power Supply Help

I've been recomended the 'Super flower Golden Green Gold 80+ Gold" power supply. It's gold, high quality components and comes to £63 Inc p&p. I'm building a Matx computer and so I'm concerned about cable management. There is not much room behind the motherboard tray and I was wonder if anyone could recommend me a modular or semi modular PSU for the same mone y that is Teir 3 and above (referring to TomsHrwdr post on PSu's) that is silver or gold rated with (if I remember correctly) japanese capasitors.

Any help is welcome

What are the rest of your specs? Without knowing the power consumption of your hardware, I can't make a recommendation.

Hi Turky!

I'll be running a i3 4170 with a single gtx 950. 1 OTD, 2x data drives and an aftermarket cpu cooler.

I'm looking at the 450-550 range, correct?

A GTX 950 + an I3 + rest of system is about 225W under absolute total stress of your system.

Some units I can think of are the Seasonis G Series 550W. EVGA GS 550W.

Strooth! I didn't think it was that low, especially as whenever I've posted my specs before people have always recommended 500 minmium!

As power supplies can have up to a 5 year warranty I would like something over what I actually need incase I upgrade to a larger build in future. Which I would like to do! Maybe a 970 untill now, I'm happy with my specs. I shall look at those psu s!

They may be a few pounds over budget. Trying to find Japanese cap semi or fully modular gold for that price is tough.

People recommend a 500W unit because:

1) Many units are crappy quality, so they take into account those 250W units rebadged as 500W units.
2) Power supplies are most efficient around 50% of their potential load.
3) Longevity, headroom.
4) A quality 300W power supply is hard to find much cheaper than a quality 550W power supply. So no use getting something like a 300W unit.

Ahh I see. I looked on Amazon first at your Evga GS 550w gold recommendation at it comes to £63 so it's in budget. Modular and black! What more could I want? 😉

I shall look around tommorow to see if I can get a better price. Any other recommendations for my PSU? And thanks again for your help!
