Power Supply Query

Possibly clutching at straws here.

My PC runs very well in games. About 80 FPS in most games maxed out on a 2k display.

The issue is that I get constant (3 times a minute or more) of what act like almost mini lockups.

On GPU monitor I see that when the lock ups happen, GPU load drops down to about 60% on both Titans (or just one of the Titan's) or sometimes even lower, and the FPS according to Fraps goes to hits 40 or lower.

What I see, as I say above, is like the pc completely locks up for half a second.

I have tried so many things, so now I am asking:

My corsair 1200watt power supply states that it needs a 15A AC input.

I am not using the standard lead that came with the Power supply (I am really not sure what happened to it).

I am just using a bog standard lead. Does anyone think that could cause any issues? Such as the above? Or just not help.

Again clutching at straws.

Regards,
James Orme

your lead is fine, that´s not the problem

Mainboard BIOS is up to date? flash in BIOS, not in Windows!

all power connectors are connected? Mainboard 8pin ATX12V too, not just 4pin?

drivers ar up to date? nvidia Homepage

temperatures?
prime95 (smallfft) + coretemp
furmark (burnin)
install memtest86+ on a USB drive and boot from it
ssd/hdd testing with manufacturer tool

3dmark (firestrike): post the link after benchmark

edit: the unselect button is usually just where the solution button was, but not colored 😉

FFS if moderator can un-select as best answer (as pressed wrong button on email -____-)

Nope tried most of those. Will try a few more (prime 95 and 3dmark.)

Temperatures on the benchmarks I tried were all fine.

Both GPU's at 83 max

CPU about 60.

There is something seriously weird with that machine.

That is one of the first things I do when I build an OS.

Ok that was the extreme one. I will now do extreme and standard on both cards individually and then Standard on sli (because I am an idiot tonight! And probably should have just tried Standard first!)

Right both cards got practically the same score when they were individually in.

I noticed also that they both have FPS drop still in Crysis and titanfall. (Suggesting that gpus are fine... Possibly ) Tomorrow I will upload the rest of my firestrike scores for individual cards.

I need another rig to test. Them in.

This was 2 weeks ago I did this fresh install and it has been perfect since. (I waited before shouting "YAY IT's FIXED 😀" and then realizing no it hasn't and committing suicide).

It was a desperate last step. Downloaded fresh Windows 8.1 iso, re-downloaded games again, and everything else from fresh.

It has been perfect. I don't understand. I still hold a bit of your skepticism about it not being over, but for now I am just trying to enjoy the fact it is working haha.
