"Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. ASUS Anti-Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit!"

To keep it short - my PC started shutting itself down, and after booting it back up said message was present in bios. I noticed it for the first time on 03.10.2017.

Some more info:
PSU is +4y old
At first it was only during gaming and only after a few hours from booting. And the Anti-Surge would trigger only once per day.
Then it also started triggering during watching YouTube, still only once per day.
Right now it triggers whenever it wants, and that happens 2-3 times per day.

My specs:
MOBO: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming [Z170-PRO-GAMING]
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K [BX80662I56600K]
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 [STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GAMING]
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB) [CMK16GX4M2B3000C15]
PSU: Cooler Master G550M (550W, 80+ Bronze) [RS-550-AMAA-B1]
SSD: GoodRam Iridium Pro (240GB) [SSDPR-IRIDPRO-240]
HDD1: Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C (1TB, 7,2KRPM) [HDS721010CLA332]
HDD2: Toshiba P300 Performance (1TB, 7,2KRPM) [HDWD110EZSTA]

Voltages in bios seems fine to me
+12V - 11.616V
+5V - 5.040V
+3.3V - 3.328V

I already heard the "just turn it off" option, but I guess the problem lies in PSU, hence my post.

In case of new PSU, which one would you choose from these 3?

- Corsair RMx 650W (CP-9020091-EU)
- Be quiet! Straight Power 10-CM 600W (BN235)
- SilentiumPC Enduro FM1 650W (SPC119)

Solution

I would pick this one.

Corsair RMx 650W (CP-9020091-EU)
Did your get your PC working against after replacing the PSU?

My issue is kind of similar because upon start up, I did get taken to the bios screen with the surge message. I worked around it by disabling surge protection at Bios. Then a few days later, I switched on my PC and it kept rebooting itself but it didn't take me to the bios screen this time, just kept turning itself off and on.

At one point, I pressed the power button and you can hear something powering on but not even the side fan was spinning...weird. After looking up on forums online, I concluded this was a PSU issue so I have ordered a new one, modular this time (750 Watts Bronze Power to replace 500 Watts). I will also use this as an opportunity to fit a new HD.

Wish me luck!
