Power surges on VS550 with Palit GTX960 Super Jetstream.

Had a really old Radeon 4850, bought the GTX960 the other day but I have constant power surges and protection restarts the PC [5-10 minutes into playing anything].

On the Asus H87 Pro I've got a pretty normal HDD, a SB soundcard and a LAN card... nothing more to drain power and still... I read here and there that the Corsair VS550 is pretty shitty but still I can't imagine that it can't power an i5 and three other components.

Any suggestions for a 100-125$ PSU if that's the problem?

Solution
That PSU is not good quality at all. This is likely the issue. Replace it with a proper PSU before it damages your system.

Antec, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA(G2,B2,GS) is what you want.

Thanks.

That's sad news, never really thought even a cheap 'brand' PSU won't do the job, provided it has the wattage necessary.

Antec TP-550C, 550W, Active PFC, 80+ Gold, 120mm https://goo.gl/AAHXmD

550W Seasonic SSP-550RT, APFC, 12cm fan, ATX 12V v.2.3, 80+ gold https://goo.gl/b53A9A

Those are two I'm able to afford, which one would you advise me to get?

Thanks once again for the prompt reply. One last question.

There's one other Antec PSU I'm looking at, as those guys don't have the other on stock currently.

Antec EA-550 Platinum, 550W, 80+ Platinum, 120 mm

Is it comparable, a bit more expensive but I see it's labelled as way more efficient. Probably there's some drawback in some other area? I see it's not modular but that's not a concern for me really.

Thanks for all the help.
